She is so adorable this sweetest bunny tucked inside an egg basket!
For this sweet antique inspired little bunny and her egg basket I used the spun cotton technique.
A little history of spun cotton: The making of Spun cotton ornaments originated in Germany in the 19th century. Cotton was spun around a wire frame and sealed with a natural glue or starch.
The bunny's face is an antique Blond German china doll head.
A little history on German china dolls: Antique porcelain German doll heads, particularly china doll & bisque dolls were produced in Germany from 1840-1930s.
I love to rescue antique German doll heads and give them new precious life. The doll heads maybe broken or missing the rest of her body.
To make the bunny I formed the spun cotton around the broken doll head. Bunny is painted white and stained with a Grimm-mix to give it a an antique vintage feel.
The bunny doll is firmly attached to the inside of the spun cotton egg and can not be removed. I painted the egg basket a pale aqua and sprinkled with clear German glass glitter.
I attached wire for the handle and added pink ribbon bow. The egg is accented with vintage millinery flowers. The egg is firmly attach to a vintage button for its base.
Piece measures: 5 inches x 2 1/2 inches.
