She is so adorable this sweetest chick tucked inside an egg basket!
For this sweet antique inspired little chick and her egg basket I formed them by hand using the spun cotton technique.
A little history of spun cotton: The making of Spun cotton ornaments originated in Germany in the 19th century. Cotton was spun around a wire frame and sealed with a natural glue or starch.
Chick is painted yellow and stained with a Grimm-mix to give it an antique vintage feel. Chick has black bead eyes, and chick is accented with flower.
The chick is firmly attached to the inside of the spun cotton egg and can not be removed. I painted the egg basket a soft blue and sprinkled with clear German glass glitter.
I attached wire for the handle and added yellow ribbon bow. The egg is accented with vintage millinery flowers.
Piece measures: 5 inches x 3 inches.
